Fan Silencer Types
Primary-Air Fan Silencers
Primary-air fans supply combustion air to boilers and furnaces. These fans generate significant noise at the fan blade passing frequency and harmonics. Universal Silencer designs custom inlet and outlet silencers to meet OSHA and plant noise requirements for primary-air fan applications.
Forced-Draft Fan Silencers
Forced-draft (FD) fans supply combustion air to boilers and furnaces under positive pressure. FD fan silencers are designed for the inlet side of the fan and must accommodate the large duct cross-sections typical of these applications. Computer-enhanced acoustic analysis tools are used to optimize silencer design.
Induced-Draft Fan Silencers
Induced-draft (ID) fans handle hot flue gas from boilers and furnaces. Silencers for ID fans must be designed for elevated temperatures and potentially corrosive flue gas. Universal Silencer provides both inlet and outlet silencers for ID fan applications.
Axial Fan Silencers
Axial fans are used in cooling towers, air-cooled heat exchangers, and large ventilation systems. These fans generate tonal noise at the blade passing frequency. Universal Silencer designs custom silencers for axial fan inlet and outlet applications.
