Inlet or Discharge
Dürr Universal Silencers designs and manufactures absorptive (dissipative-type), multi-chamber (reactive-type), and combination (reactive/dissipative) blower silencers to meet the specific noise requirements for each application. With hundreds of thousands of blower silencers sold, Dürr Universal Silencers is an industry expert in blower silencing.
Blower silencers are required in many types of blowers — centrifugal, positive displacement, helicoil, two-lobe, and tri-lobe — across a wide variety of industries including industrial processing, wastewater treatment, chemical, dairy, cement and lime, process gas, soil remediation, milling and baking, dry bulk hauling, power generation, pulp and paper, oil and gas, and aquaculture. Dürr Universal Silencers keeps many standard catalog silencers in stock for fast delivery.
The UCI is Dürr Universal Silencers's standard reactive multi-chamber inlet silencer for rotary positive displacement (Roots-type) blowers. The UCI uses tuned reactive chambers to attenuate the characteristic pulsation frequencies generated by the blower's lobe rotation. Chamber dimensions are tuned to the blower's fundamental frequency and harmonics based on RPM and lobe count.
Best for: Rotary lobe (Roots-type) blowers — inlet side. Best where low-frequency pulsation is the primary noise source.
The RIS is a single-chamber reactive inlet silencer for rotary positive displacement blowers. Simpler construction than the UCI, the RIS provides reactive attenuation at the blower's fundamental frequency. Used where a more economical solution is acceptable and the noise spectrum is dominated by a single frequency.
Best for: Rotary lobe blowers — inlet side. Best for applications where cost is a primary concern and single-frequency attenuation is sufficient.
The CB and CBFI series combine reactive tuned chambers with absorptive (dissipative) packing to provide both low-frequency pulsation attenuation and broadband high-frequency noise reduction in a single unit. The CBFI variant includes an integral inlet filter element. These are the highest-performance inlet silencers in the Dürr Universal Silencers blower silencer line.
Best for: Applications requiring maximum insertion loss across a broad frequency range. CBFI is ideal where inlet filtration and silencing are both needed.
The UCD is the discharge-side counterpart to the UCI inlet silencer. Designed for the higher-pressure discharge side of rotary positive displacement blower systems, where noise levels are typically highest. Multi-chamber reactive design tuned to the blower's discharge pulsation frequency. Higher pressure rating than inlet models.
Best for: Rotary lobe blower discharge side. Primary choice for discharge silencing on standard positive displacement blower systems.
The SD is a standard reactive discharge silencer for positive displacement blowers. Provides effective pulsation attenuation at the blower's discharge frequency. More economical than the UCD for applications where the full multi-chamber design is not required.
Best for: Rotary lobe blower discharge side where an economical reactive silencer is acceptable.
The RD is a reactive discharge silencer providing attenuation at the blower's fundamental discharge frequency. Similar in concept to the RIS on the inlet side, the RD is a single-chamber reactive design for discharge service.
Best for: Rotary lobe blower discharge side. Cost-effective option for single-frequency discharge attenuation.
The SURS is a stainless steel reactive silencer for corrosive service blower applications. Identical in function to the UCI/UCD reactive silencers but constructed in stainless steel for chemical process, wastewater, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and other environments where carbon steel is not appropriate.
Best for: Any application requiring stainless steel construction — chemical process, wastewater, food/beverage, pharmaceutical, or marine environments.
The URB (inlet) and URD (discharge) series are designed specifically for regenerative blowers and centrifugal blowers, which produce a different noise profile than rotary positive displacement blowers. Regenerative blowers generate broadband noise rather than discrete pulsation frequencies, so the URB/URD uses a reactive design optimized for this noise spectrum.
Best for: Regenerative blowers (ring blowers, side-channel blowers) and centrifugal blowers. Not intended for rotary positive displacement blowers.
