PEECO Flow Switches
Paddle-type flow detection for large pipe sizes and low-velocity liquid service
PEECO Paddle-Type Flow Switches
The PEECO paddle-type flow switch uses a paddle inserted into the flow stream to detect the presence or absence of liquid flow. When flow velocity exceeds the set point, the drag force on the paddle deflects it, actuating the microswitch. The paddle-type design is particularly well-suited for larger pipe sizes (1-1/2" and above) and lower-velocity liquid applications.
Multiple paddle styles are available — standard, perforated (for turbulent/pulsating flow), Teflon-coated (for corrosive service), flexible (for slurry), and extended (for very large pipes). Explosion proof enclosures available for hazardous locations.
Standard Paddle
Flat paddle for general liquid service. Available in multiple widths to match pipe size and required actuation flow velocity.
Perforated Paddle
Holes in the paddle reduce drag — for turbulent flow, pulsating flow, or cavitating conditions where a solid paddle would cause nuisance trips.
Teflon-Coated Paddle
PTFE coating on the paddle for corrosive fluid service or where product contamination must be avoided.
Flexible Paddle
Flexible material paddle for slurry service or fluids containing suspended solids that could jam a rigid paddle.
Extended Paddle
Longer paddle for large-diameter pipes where the flow profile near the wall is lower than at the center.
Custom-Engineered to Order
PEECO paddle flow switches are not off-the-shelf items. To request a quote, provide: fluid type, pipe size, flow rate range, operating pressure, operating temperature, electrical requirements, and area classification. Contact Northeast Controls Inc. for application engineering assistance.
