Cover Types — Slip-On vs Threaded
N Series uses slip-on (NEMA 4X) · E and H Series use threaded (NEMA 7)
The cover type on a PEECO flow switch determines its enclosure rating and suitability for hazardous locations. The N Series uses a slip-on cover (NEMA 4X, general purpose), while the E and H Series use a threaded cover with a machined flame path (NEMA 7, explosion proof). Selecting the correct cover type is essential for code compliance and personnel safety.
Slip-On Cover
N Series · NEMA 4X
The slip-on cover is used on the N Series (non-explosion proof) PEECO flow switches. The cover slides over the switch mechanism and is secured with a set screw or clamp ring. It provides a weatherproof, watertight enclosure rated NEMA 4X (stainless steel) or NEMA 4 (steel). The slip-on design allows quick access to the switch mechanism for adjustment or maintenance without tools.

Threaded Cover
E Series / H Series · NEMA 7
The threaded cover is used on the E Series (explosion proof) and H Series (high pressure explosion proof) PEECO flow switches. The cover threads onto the switch body with a machined, close-tolerance thread that provides a flame path — the defining feature of an explosion proof enclosure. The threaded cover is rated NEMA 7 (Class I, Div. 1, Group D) and meets UL and CSA requirements for use in hazardous locations.

Important: Cover Type is Determined by Series
You cannot mix cover types between series. If your application requires an explosion proof enclosure (NEMA 7), you must specify the E Series or H Series — the N Series slip-on cover cannot be upgraded to a NEMA 7 rating.
