Jacoby Tarbox Teflon-lined sight flow indicator for corrosive service

Teflon®-Lined & Fluoropolymer-Lined Sight Flow Indicators

Metal body strength with full fluoropolymer or rubber lining for aggressive chemical service. All wetted surfaces — body, flapper, gaskets — lined or made from the selected material. Available in PTFE, PFA, PVDF, and rubber linings.

Lined sight flow indicators provide the structural strength of a metal body with the chemical resistance of a fluoropolymer or rubber lining. All wetted surfaces — body, flapper, and gaskets — are lined or made from the selected material, ensuring no metal contact with the process fluid. Available in a range of lining materials to match the specific chemical service.

Lining Materials

PTFE (Teflon®)Polytetrafluoroethylene-65°F to +450°F

The most chemically resistant lining material available. PTFE is virtually inert to all chemicals except molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine. Excellent for concentrated acids, caustics, solvents, and oxidizing agents. Low coefficient of friction reduces fouling.

Concentrated sulfuric acid
Hydrofluoric acid
Chlorine and chlorine compounds
Strong caustics (NaOH, KOH)
Organic solvents
Oxidizing acids
PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy)Perfluoroalkoxy Alkane-65°F to +500°F

Similar chemical resistance to PTFE but with better high-temperature performance and improved resistance to stress cracking. PFA can be melt-processed, allowing thinner, more uniform linings. Preferred for applications above 400°F or where PTFE stress cracking is a concern.

High-temperature acid service
Semiconductor chemicals
Pharmaceutical solvents
High-purity chemical service
Applications above 400°F
ETFE (Tefzel®)Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene-100°F to +300°F

Excellent chemical resistance with superior mechanical strength compared to PTFE and PFA. ETFE is more impact-resistant and abrasion-resistant, making it suitable for slurries and abrasive media. Good resistance to most acids, bases, and solvents.

Dilute acids and bases
Abrasive slurries
Chemical feed lines
Water treatment chemicals
Pharmaceutical process lines
CTFE (Kel-F®)Polychlorotrifluoroethylene-400°F to +400°F

Outstanding chemical resistance with very low permeability to gases and liquids. CTFE has excellent resistance to strong oxidizing acids and is particularly suited for liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and cryogenic service. Also used for fuming nitric acid and other aggressive oxidizers.

Liquid oxygen and cryogenic service
Fuming nitric acid
Strong oxidizing acids
Chlorine service
Aerospace and defense applications
Rubber LiningNatural or Synthetic Rubber-40°F to +250°F

Rubber-lined sight flow indicators provide excellent resistance to dilute acids, alkalis, and abrasive slurries at lower cost than fluoropolymer linings. Available in natural rubber, neoprene, EPDM, and other elastomers depending on the chemical service.

Dilute acids and alkalis
Abrasive slurries
Mining and minerals processing
Water treatment
Pulp and paper chemicals
