Large Chamber Gages Series L10

These gages are designed to give an accurate liquid level reading of liquids that have a tendency to surge or  boil.   These gages are highly effective in (1) reducing the boiling effects of entrained gas being released under lowered pressure, (2) the liquid itself being vaporized when pressure reaches a critical low point, and (3) boiling caused by temperatures exceeding the boiling point of the liquid.

When the liquid being gaged has an unusually low boiling point the gage and valves should be installed and the gage equipped with a non-frosting unit.  Combining high pressure covers and a large cylindrical chamber, these gages can  improve accuracy in determining turbulent vessel liquid levels.  The liquid chamber. In addition to simulating the function of a stilling well and providing a liquid column approximately four times the diameter of standard gages, large chamber gages can provide end connections up to 2" NPTF that can accommodate various instrumentation.

Gage glasses are specially processed, heat treated and tempered.  Standard connections are 3/4" N.P.T. female end connections.  1/2" or 3/4" N.P.T. side connections are available.   2" flanged or scarfed for welding connections which provide unrestricted flow through the chamber may be specified.

Series L10 Specifications:
  • Section Lengths: Gage sections are available in nine standard glass sizes. Longer sizes are constructed with multiple vision slots in a continuous chamber made from heavy wall tubing.
  • Connections: Standard connections are at top and bottom and are 3/4" NPT female. Up to 2" NPT end connections, 1/2" or 3/4" NPT side or back connections and flanged connections are available.
  • Liquid Chamber: Heavy wall tubing, 2" inside diameter. Gasket seats are machined on the face of the chamber and assembly torques are designed to prevent sidewise movement of gaskets. See Chamber Image
  • Covers: Forged carbon steel is standard. Optional materials are available such as 316SS. The cushion gasket seat is recessed.
  • Bolts & Nuts: Alloy steel is standard, A193 B7 and A194 2H. Optional materials are available. All steel fasteners are "black oxide" treated to prevent rust.
  • Glass: Tempered Borosilicate is used to 600° F (316° C). Aluminosilicate is used to 800° F (427° C). Transparent glass may be protected from corrosive media with mica or Neoflon CTFE shields.
  • Gaskets: Standard gaskets are precision die cut in proprietary Jerguson dies.
  • Finish: All steel parts are finish coated prior to assembly. Stainless steel is not coated.
NOTE: It is recommended that all gages be installed with Jerguson gage valves having safety ballchecks which help provide protection against physical injury and loss of product if glass breakage should occur.
